Description

The San Lucas Island Cruise is a one-day boat tour that leaves from Puntarenas, Costa Rica's major Pacific Port. Once on board the cruise will go through the calm waters of the Gulf of Nicoya, where you might see porpoise, dolphins, sea turtles and aquatic birds.

Once at your destination you will enjoy the activities that include a guided walk through San Lucas old Penitentiary, a piece of Costa Rican history of a bygone era. It is the Costa Rica's infamous version of San Francisco's «the rock», or France's «Devil Island».

You will also have the opportunity to walk through the trails surrounded by natural springs and the characteristic flora of the tropical dry forest. After the walk, time to swim and refresh on the waters of the Gulf will be pleasant and enjoyable.

What to bring

Casual clothes, light pants, tight fitting hat, sun glasses, camera and walking shoes to feel very comfortable around the old Penitentiary and on the dry tropical forest of the Island (sometimes muddy if is during rainy season: from May through November).

Bathing suit, towel, rubber sandals, suntan lotion. For the return ride in the afternoon: light pants and a light weight long sleeved shirt.
